Simon has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wales and a Bachelor of Science in Mineral Engineering from Leeds University. Additionally, Simon has qualifications in HNC Business and Finance from Sheffield City Polytechnic.
Simon has over 25 years of experience in the steel and coal industry in the UK, Southern Europe, South Africa, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Responsible for full profit and loss management of multi-million dollar contracts, gaining expertise particularly in materials handling, waste minimisation, reduction and recycling. He also had successful experience in managing and implementing McKinsey cost optimisation projects in Australia and New Zealand. Simon has managed and driven business development and marketing activities in order to sustain long-term business growth across Europe, South Africa and the Asia Pacific region. Simon also has experience and understanding of not-for-profit organisations, with director and chair positions held.
An accident in 2008 left Simon quadriplegic, a life changing but not life destroying event. Simon continues to engage in as many activities as possible and loves life, especially the time spent with his wife, two young adult sons, and many friends. Simon is very active with his local church. He has been an active and passionate Manchester City supporter since the early 1970s, experiencing lots of lows before the more recent highs. Since his accident, Simon has enjoyed mastering all the technological aids that are available today and continues to use these in his new working life with Prological.
