Alexander Cetinski has just joined the Prological team as an Analyst.
We asked Alexander a few questions about his role, his life and what he likes about working for Prological.
What have you enjoyed most since starting at Prological?
The team has been amazingly supportive so far, and everyone has been excited to teach me about how the world of logistics works. This is also by far the most amount of data I have needed to work with which is really exciting!
What is the proudest moment in your career?
The proudest moment I have had has been when I developed a new reporting methodology for clients at my previous agency. During the first COVID lockdown in 2020 there was an opportunity to completely revamp how the agency reported outcomes to clients, with the goal being to offer more granular insights using automation. I worked on this project solo – meeting with the agency owners to discuss the benefits of the new approach, and with clients to understand what they would like to get out of the new system.
After a long development period the system launched, and what made me proud was the look on our client’s faces when they now had insights into their performance that they had never had before, and their excitement when they found that they now also had the freedom to, when giving the agency a brief, elect what they wanted to learn from the project.
What do you like about working in supply chain?
Something that I have always found fascinating about supply chain versus software programming and especially marketing is its tangibility. Every piece of data is about a product that went somewhere and was sold to someone (or is waiting to be).
To that end, the insights we generate, and the recommendations we make feel like they have a very material impact to our clients
, and to that end it feels like the effort is very rewarding.
I also love the systems aspect of supply chain management, it is amazing to see how changes flow through supply chain systems and understanding the relationship between complex systems and tangible effects.
Who inspires you?
My co-workers at Prological, and the SCM lecturers at the University of Wollongong obviously have had the most impact on shaping my understanding and perspectives of supply chain management to-date. A few names that come to mind as inspiration when it comes to supply chain of course include leaders like Steve Jobs and Tim Cook, and I recently finished ‘The Supply Chain Revolution’ by Suman Sarkar which I enjoyed immensely.
Outside of work, I am inspired by activists who work towards a more sustainable future. As such I am excited by the prospect of green technologies in logistics, such as solar powered warehouses and EVs for transport.
What are you passionate about?
Causes that motivate me personally are sustainability, the rights of people with disabilities and , LGBTQ+ rights.
When I am not working, I enjoy playing with my dog, laughing at old horror movies (and being disturbed by new ones), painting, and cooking. I have a bit of a board game collection for social occasions. I am known for bringing smoked salmon to Christmas lunches along with whatever is the most recent party game and making pretty good focaccias (I’m being modest. They are fantastic).
Name one thing on your bucket list
I want to travel. I’m not sure how to narrow the list of places I want to go down to just one! After the last few years, maybe somewhere relaxing to start.
