Building Product Importer: International Supply Chain Transformation

Review, design and implement a revised ‘system’ for supply from Changshu into the various ANZ markets.

International manufacturer

Transition from manufacturer to importer

An industry leader in the design and manufacture of strut channels and metal framing, our client transitioned from an Australian manufacturer, to an importer/distributor with their own Changshu based manufacturing facility.

International processes were immature , complex, costly and not delivering the required service outcomes.

Redesigning the supply chain network

An internal review had been conducted, however it did not achieve the required outcomes.

Prological were engaged to review, design and implement a revised ‘system’ for supply from Changshu into the various ANZ markets.

Unlocking capabilities and opportunities

Our team identified a number of opportunities for cost reduction that would ultimately:

  • reduce costs by $300,000 on an original spend of $990,000
  • decrease transit times by 7/8 days on the previous 19 day lead times.
  • reduce the overall container numbers by implementing changes to ordering processes, leading to greater container utilisation.
